No Man Is Bigger Than the Cannon

It has finally arrived, the first game of the season, a new hope, new players and new premiership ambitions. For those of us who daily and obsessively followed the transfer news especially for those of us who are Arsenal fans, the last 74 days of the transfer window were seemingly unending. The good news is, it is almost over, the bad news is, something desperately needs to happen within the next 16 days.

The game against Newcaastle was a largely boring one the most notable aspect of which was Gervinho not obtaining his penalty shot, getting manhandled by Joey Barton and slapping him like a bi**h for his disrespect, Barton falling down as if getting hit by a Klitschko left hook (pick which one) and surprisingly only Gervinho receiving a red. 

The now permanent absence of Fabregas and soon to be permanent absence of Nasri accentuated even more so by Wilshere somewhere close by to his twitter account instead of the pitch. Gervinho had a fairly good game given the fact it's his first one and that he still needs to adjust. He has definitely shown his fast pace and good positioning skills.

Moving on to the team as it stands and the transfer activity. I might get bombed for my next statement but I don't care if Fabregas and Nasri left. In one case we just lost a Syler from Heroes look alike who also happened to be the captain of the team meanwhile not believing in the team's ability to win trophies and an attacking midfielder who only had 1 great season while the others were plagued by injuries. I will admit I say this with a bit of bitterness but even if we disregard my last statement, keeping two good players who do not want to stay is worse than losing them. Especially if one of them captains the team.

Both Fabregas and Nasri wanted to leave and I say good riddance. Wenger now has 16 days, 60 million and a whole lot of wisdom in the transfer market to rejuvenate the team and more importantly buy players who WANT to be there. 

Of course, if he is not able to do that and money is available to him, he would deserve to get sacked.
